Middle School and Upper School Student Council are student-led organizations that provide students with opportunities to develop teamwork, leadership, responsibility, and school spirit. Council members serve as representatives of the student body and work alongside faculty and administration to help create a positive and engaging school environment. Assisting with Homecoming, Field Day, school dances, and fundraising efforts, Student Council members also serve as volunteers for many city-wide events to cultivate a sense of community and pride in Washington County.

Our Middle and Upper School STEM Clubs are designed to create hands-on challenges to build students’ skills in robotics, engineering, technology, mathematics, and practical tool identification. Students will be encouraged to compete in school-wide, district, and/or state competitions through a series of timed events that emphasize creativity, accuracy, teamwork, and real-world application of STEM concepts while building a passion for these future subject areas.

Mu Alpha Theta

Mu Alpha Theta Sponsor: Pat Marie Clinkscales

Mu Alpha Theta is an organization that aims to promote scholarship, enjoyment, and understanding of mathematics among high school students. Students who have completed five semesters of college preparatory mathematics with at least a 90 average and no grade lower than 86 meet the requirements for membership, and in doing so have demonstrated the qualities of industry, initiative, and reliability.

Rotary Interact

Upper and Middle School Rotary Interact Sponsor: Monica Ellis

Rotary Interact Club empowers our youth to be future leaders who understand the value and impact of serving our local, state, and international communities. Within our Rotary Interact Club, students will volunteer year-round to learn more about their world and their future community as they develop teamwork, communication, and personal skills.

Fellowship of Christian Students is a student-led organization that invites students to grow in their faith, to build meaningful relationships, and to serve others. Through prayer, scripture, and school-wide events, students enjoy chapel each week and create an environment that emphasizes Christian leadership while demonstrating Christian values both on campus and it their communities.

Drama Club

Upper and Middle School Drama Club Sponsor: Sara Kelly

As a crucial pillar of our Fine Arts Department, Drama Club members learn to develop a passion for theatre and the arts as they cultivate performance-based skills to prepare for our upcoming productions of the Middle School and High School Fall Plays. Students in Drama Club consistently contribute to the continued success of our Drama Department through acting, creativity, teamwork, leadership, professionalism, and a passion for the stage.

Class Trips

Class Trips Coordinator: Ginger Chaffinch

Class Trips are offered at Washington School for grades 4th-11th each year to enhance our history, science, fine arts, and literary curriculum while exploring new cultures and landmarks in some of our greatest cities in the United States. Although these trips are optional, students are encouraged to participate in our unique educational opportunities that go above and beyond the scope of the traditional classroom.
